**Window

In the past, windows served primarily as a means of letting in light and ventilation. The openings were kept small and covered with skins, parchment or linen fabric to reduce the effects of weather and not lose too much heat.

In addition to the already mentioned properties, which windows still have to fulfill to a high degree today, the architectural design possibilities with the high demands on statics and building physics have been added. The ever larger window areas have to do with the user behavior of society. If we are more indoors today, both at work and in our leisure time, we look for the opening to the outside in the window and façade openings. With the orientation of these surfaces towards the south, we also receive the solar free energy.

Shutters

Shutters were originally installed to protect interiors from wind and weather. With the introduction of window glass, the shutter served to protect the glass front.

Today, shutters serve primarily as privacy and sun protection or take on decorative purposes. Due to the locking system, the shutters can also act as burglary protection to a limited extent.
