Our origin, our future

For over 100 years, the traditional Swiss company Kellpax has been the reliable partner for exterior and interior doors. Shortly after the turn of the century, a wood products factory was founded in Klingnau and a joinery and carpentry shop in Bremgarten. Both companies developed into sought-after door manufacturers and were merged in 1992. We have remained true to the material wood and our craft to this day.

Reliability, speed, flexibility and personal service have been our trademarks for generations. Added to this is the high level of manufacturing and development know-how in doors.

Wood is a naturally grown material that often has a history of over 100 years when processed. That is why the resource-conserving and sustainable use of this raw material is of particular concern to us.

Forests are our green lungs... which provide us humans with sufficient oxygen - a 100-year-old beech tree releases about 1.7 kg of oxygen per hour. This is about the amount that 50 people need to breathe in one hour. And without the rainforests - the green lungs of the earth - life and survival would be impossible.

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification guarantees a verified and therefore unquestionable origin of wood. Our Swiss production site as well as many of our production sites in Europe are PEFC certified and accordingly label their products with "70% PEFC" (= at least 70% of the wood used in production comes from PEFC certified forests).

JELD-WEN is therefore committed to sustainable forest management. We therefore work with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainable practices and provide proof of the relevant certifications.

We have our claims confirmed by FSC™ or PEFC- seals. Both certification systems are recognized worldwide and stand equally for sustainable forest management. They differ in that European and American forests are mainly PEFC certified, while FSC certification is usually possible for tropical woods. For our manufacturing process, this means guaranteed sustainability throughout. For you, this means active environmental protection and the possibility of being able to trace the origin of the wood without any gaps.

With its FSC (Forest Stewardship Council™) chain of custody certification, JELD-WEN Europe gives you the assurance that at least 70% of the wood used in production comes from socially and environmentally responsible forest management. In the process, neither people were exploited nor animals and plants endangered during the logging process. It is currently the only internationally valid certificate that is also recognized by the WWF.

Healthy interior doors

House and apartment have always been retreats from public life, here we recharge our batteries and come to rest.

But how much we feel at home depends on various factors. In addition to light, colors and furnishings, the indoor climate also has a decisive influence on our well-being and health. After all, we spend almost two thirds of our time indoors. Here we are protected from wind and weather, but instead of a fresh, natural breeze, we often breathe in indoor air polluted by harmful substances.

Typical pollutants that affect our indoor air are primarily volatile organic compounds such as solvents and formaldehyde. They are contained in paints, varnishes or adhesives and often enter our living spaces unnoticed.

To ensure that you do not compromise on your health, you should make sure when selecting building materials, floor coverings, furniture and interior doors that the products used are as low in pollutants as possible.

We are the only door manufacturer that has had itself inspected according to the strict quality criteria of the SHI and is recommended and used in consultations and building projects according to the Sentinel-Haus concept. All the recommended values defined in these criteria have been undercut, as have the guideline values of RAL UZ38 with regard to formaldehyde and TVOC emissions.

Thus, due to their very low emission values, our products meet the SHI guidelines and are recommended and approved for SHI projects as a matter of priority. You see: With our interior door elements, you can play it safe when building your own home.
